(via sweethomestyle)Man is it WEIRD to see my old bedroom on a popular tumblr.
I love the Internet.

I no longer feel the delusional sense of cosmic self-importance that once guided me through so many weird and embarrassing decisions. It no longer seems that my contribution will be absolutely vital to the realization of the Universe’s ultimate destiny. And this sense of unimportance does not make me feel nihilistic, either. I just want to do some good for others, keep learning, fall in love, raise kids, and grow old gracefully.
Allyson Mellberg is excellent.
The Girlfriend Experience was remarkable because Sasha Grey’s acting so perfectly reflected the unique social difficulties possessed by some people my age - and many people a few years younger - who are developing with an overwhelming ability to 1) sculpt their own (virtual) identity and community, and 2) find protection within these constructs — a possibility rendered by the increasing amount of communication occuring exclusively by way of these artificial channels rather than reality. It was fascinating to see that new attitude represented on screen, whether intentional or not, and I think that the reviewers who are harshly criticizing Ms. Grey’s acting have probably had limited exposure to the young people of 2009.
Other than that, it unfortunately kinda sucked. I remain optimistic about Ponyo!
